Cement Manufacturer Improves Load Certainty

A leader and pioneer in the cement industry with over 142 years of experience was experiencing delays in shipping due to lack of knowledge about the weight of various products. Specializing in cementitious products for highways, bridges, commercial and industrial complexes this North American cement manufacturer had several mixes and products that are transported in different size totes, including vehicle fills.

Transport trucks both container and flatbed would arrive with a fill order and once enroute to the construction site are subject to a checkpoint at any number of weigh stations. This process ensures compliance with both vehicle axel capacity and road safety to the public at large. When a vehicle is weighed, and the scale shows that it is over capacity the truck is routed back to the point of origin where it was loaded and with a fine. Delays such as this cost more that just fines when delays in construction are incurred.

A Lift Truck Scale that Takes Away the Guess Work and Improves Safety

Due to the huge space required to manufacture and store these products as well as the pliable state of the product and different size totes floor and crane scales are just not practical. Calculating density weight and coupling with tare weight were just not reliable as some trucks would return for offloading and compliance weight. Luckily their local lift truck dealer with experience in aftermarket material handling accessories had a solution. This dealership had been selling SkidWeigh products for years and was very knowledgeable about the different scales and their applications. It doesn’t have to be a complex solution to solve a complex problem. This sales rep suggested the SkidWeigh Classic SC2 onboard check-weighing scale. It easily retrofit on their loading lift trucks and would capture the weight within seconds before it was loaded onto the truck. In addition the SC2 SkidWeigh Classic comes with the accumulative totaling (AT) option. This allows the lift truck operator the ability to add all loads on the truck with the push of a button. No clipboard or calculator required saving everyone valuable time. Also important for this company was the fact that all SC lift truck scales come complete with overload notification ensuring that lift truck capacities were also respected.
