Case Study #2:
SkidWeigh Plays a Part in Property Services
SkidWeigh Plays a Part in Property Services
Over the years IVDT has provided a productivity boost to many public utilities and municipality services. If you look around your community the roads, signage and public infrastructure as well government-controlled operations are supported behind the scenes with huge warehouses, a diverse group of skilled workers, and several pieces of equipment to carry out the task of developing municipalities. One such property services operation the Region of York in Ontario, was looking to better understand the weight of product received and outgoing. For a variety of reasons which include safety as well the Region wanted to give their operators the ability to weigh and properly understand all product being transported on their reach truck. All regional property services utilize a number of specialized vocational trucks with different payload capacities depending on axel restrictions and or the hydraulic or electric equipment on the serviceable truck. The ability to understand and respect capacity thresholds are critical. Just as important is the ability to store the equipment and product in the proper place. With 4 levels of racking storage all with different capacities – there is no room for error. Looking to their local dealer the SkidWeigh SC2 with overload notification was recommended.
All Municipalities in North America can Benefit from Weighing on the Go
Once installed the SkidWeigh Classic SC2 integrated seamlessly into their operation. The SC2’s hydraulic pressure transducer technology installed cleanly in less than 2 hours and provided no interruptions whatsoever to the mechanical operation of the reach truck. Fitting snug and compact the indicator became a productive addition to the operator compartment providing information in seconds without compromising safe operation of the vehicle. Compared with other systems, SkidWeighs simplicity of install stands out. Put into production the SC2 weighed all incoming and outgoing product and equipment within 3 seconds of lifting the forks off the ground. Creating no delay for the operator, truck at bay or region contractor waiting to dispatch to the job site. On bonus on all SkidWeigh Classic SC series lift truck scales that fit into the Regions safety criteria as well as boosting productivity was overload notification. With the 96” beams on the top level of racking being significantly less the Region was able to set the overload notification to just under the capacity so that operators would not place product without knowing for certain that the beam could support.
