Material Handling Dealers and OEM’s
SkidWeigh Technology Works for YOU
When it comes to onboard forklift productivity and safety accessories there are more than one option that end users and material handling dealers must decide if it is right for them. Sales and marketing support material will always present the offering as ‘The Best’ solution – but is it really? Over the years, working with hundreds of material handling dealers we have come across so many customers that have invested in onboard accessories only to find out that their investment has come up short. So many times, the lack of understanding of how the technology works for the business means that the end users are frustrated and the material handling dealer who sold the equipment finds the relationship compromised. That is why at IVDT we feel it’s worth the few extra minutes to understand exactly how the technology we provide benefits your business today and tomorrow. Often the word technology is met with apprehension by both end users and dealers as in complicated, difficult to understand and a rabbit hole of time consumption. Done right that couldn’t be farther from the truth and the few extra minutes to understand how technology integrates pays dividends down the line.

Which Communication Protocol is Right for You?
Data communication is as popular as ever. With advancements in workplace productivity flow, time is a premium and access to data is critical. There are three main options in the onboard accessory market, wi-fi, cloud based and 900MHz RF. How do you know which one is right for you. First Wi-Fi is accessible and inexpensive, and all companies have a network that can host. But the reality is almost all companies will deny external equipment to connect and utilize network space due to security breach and or threat. This leaves many of companies that have bought such equipment with it installed but without the ability to benefit from the data send. The next promoted communication protocol is cloud-based data shares. That is exactly what it is a hosted platform that exist remotely and is sold with a monthly fee. In order to have data on your fleet you must pay a fee per truck. This contingency adds up depending on the size of your fleet and this definitely has an impact on the P&L. What if your fleet is comprised of mixed OEM brands? What is the point of having data on some and not all the equipment - not really fleet management is it. We utilize 900 MHz RF technology for a simple reason. It is a stand-alone communication platform that cannot be compromised by external or internal interference. Does not rely on wi-fi and therefore IT friendly. The Base Station which is the conduit to the network connection stores all the relevant data without the need to penetrate server files. RF technology also has no monthly fees which means that cost control is understood clearly in the R.O.I. Always check with your IT department prior to deciding which option is best for you.

The Power of Plug and Play
IVDT’s modular design has a unique advantage that many overlook but is simple to realize. Most other systems are singular or closed purpose in design which means that the unit installed cannot be changed or added to at a later date. What if your business changes? What if you require additional options? We have come across many companies that are forced for that very reason to incorporate 2 systems on a forklift because of short coming is one or both. How does that impact the operator of that vehicle in performing their job? How does that impact the consolidation of data from multi systems? The addition of onboard systems should simplify not add additional workload. All our systems are modular in design which means dealers and end-users have options at point of sale and in the future. Adding items such as a scale option that provides the ability to add skids, overload notification and tare functions. Operator and vehicle productivity utilization. Others include pre-shift OSHA safety checks as well as keypad and or RFID card and fob access control. All these options along with impact detection can be added to an IVDT system cost effectively at any time. This allows your business to remain progressive in its ability to adapt to operational objectives and as a material handling dealer provide technology that really enhances your customer relationship.
