The Simplest Way to Check Weigh on the Cross Dock
Sometimes the best and most effective solutions are the simplest to implement. We at IVDT have been working with freight and LTL companies for decades to provide reliable check weighing solutions. We have designed custom software that integrates into their weighing process and delivers weight and load information directly to files on their network. However, the check weighing solution that seems to have the most traction on the cross dock is the SkidWeigh Plus ED3-Print. This system provides all freight companies with a reliable and effective way to double check the actual weight against the shipper or waybill. It is estimated that as many as 25% of loads that moved through the cross dock are understated. The reason is quite simple many companies do not have a method to weigh loads on skids and guessing is exactly that a guess. The risk then is assumed by the freight carrier by way of lost profit and potential fines of overloading. The cost-effective introduction of the ED3-Print system provide the following.
Simple Installation:
IVDT’s Pressure transducer technology allows the system to be installed in approximately 2 hours. Does not alter capacity of the vehicle and or change the OEM plate on the lift truck. Once installed the system stays calibrated to within spec consistently. Unlike load cell systems that have a difficult time staying within tolerance due to the harsh environment of the cross dock. This reliability issue along with the cost makes it difficult to realize a true R.O.I.
Simple Operation:
The cross dock is busy, loads coming in must be staged and directed to their transfer location. Time is of the essence and forklift operators feel the pressure. There is no time to source a floor scale and with the reliability of a load cell system in question why bother. The SkidWeigh Plus ED3-Print allows the operator to weigh the load in 3 seconds from which the skid is picked up. If the load matches the waybill on to the next load if there is a discrepancy that must be rectified press the (P) button to get a receipt from the Bluetooth printer. No need to stop or redirect work in progress that is already time sensitive.
This simple system has been deployed again and again in many freight operations with lasting results. Built for tough environments SkidWeigh technology stands up over the years and costs approximately 20% of what load cell systems charge without the inconvenience. SkiWeigh technology also has several other data import and export options such as USB retrieval, scanners and label printer to compliment any freight application. However, the ED3-Print is all that is required for certainty on the cross dock with a true R.O.I. that is realized in days not weeks or months.
