Large format retailers have thousands of administrative tasks to ensure that the business operates consistently and reliably. With multiple locations over several states and provinces in North America the ability to ensure that practices are uniform and both safeguarding the compliancy of the organization and protecting the brand are critical. On the logistics side of the business specifically with regards to the material handling equipment that is required to ship, receive and move product the ability to perform and provide a pre-shift safety check is not just critical it’s the law.
Material handling equipment consists of counterbalance lift trucks, order pickers and reach trucks, as well as class III electric pallet trucks as well as aerial lifts and electric platforms. All of them important to the daily operations of moving product and maintaining infrastructure. All of them required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, OSHA and the provincial ministries in Canada to manage and maintain historical record proving due diligence on the inspection of each piece of equipment both its mechanical suitability as well as the functionality of their required safety equipment. Companies such as Walmart, Lowes, Costco, Amazon, RONA, Canadian Tire and Aldi to name just some, have thousands of material handling vehicles each over hundreds of locations. Managing consistency, accuracy with a passable percentage of compliance can be a daunting task. But it doesn’t have to be.
Designed specifically for big box operations requiring a solution, but not limited to, the combination of OSHAX and InfoHUBX provide automatic pre-shift accountability. Understanding that paper is still the industry standard and the problems associated with such as lost records, incorrectly filled out or simply not complete at all we developed OSHAX with retailer feedback a failsafe method to achieve a perfect safety rating. OSHAX automatically upon start up requires an operator login and is prompted by an OSHA compliant safety check before the system acknowledges the unit is ready to work. With alarm notification the system clearly indicates which units are compliant and what units are not.
The system does not disable the truck therefore never compromising safety or productivity. Automatically notifies the operator when a safety is due/required and subsequently when it is done and how long it took to perform. The information is securely stored in the units SD Ram for 100% compliancy. Add InfoHUBX a standalone network connection that does not require Wi-Fi or cloud-based support, eliminating costly monthly fees and or security risks. The InfoHUBX system utilizes a powerful DiGi XBEE-PRO RF modem (Regulatory approvals in USA, Canada and Australia) and laptop PC which serves as the data center. The system is virtually plug and play with the addition of an IP address and the input of an SMTP mail server compatible with all modern network servers. The InfoHUBX communicates in real time with all OSHAX devices and archives the data so that responsible operation managers have easy access to view, sort and export the data as required. In addition to an interactive webpage the system also provides an SMTP server connection that allows responsible managers to receive an email on vehicles that require immediate attention, thereby ensuring the safety of operators and customers. All data received displays the operator, vehicle number, event and is time stamped for record.
The system literally installs in approximately 1 hour with supplied universal install brackets and has an operational voltage range of 12 to 48 VDC. 2 wires is all that is required to connect, a power and a ground and will retrofit on any make, model or type of material handling vehicle. The system is an excellent solution for servicing material handling dealers to assist their large customers in support of maintaining a perfect safety rating.
