Standardization Provides Simplified Highly Impactful Safety Upgrade

That includes its material handling operations and its reliance on forklifts to manufacture, move and store product efficiently and safely. Several years ago, a strategic decision was made to transition the entire forklift fleet to zero emission electric lift trucks. No small task as the diversity of the lift truck fleet includes smaller warehouse and stores vehicles to mid-range yard vehicles 5000lb to 15,000lb as well as heavy duty forklifts 52,000lbs plus. That along with the fact that the company has over 50 locations in North America employing some 9000lb workers managing safety operations on such an expansive fleet is requires some careful consideration.

SC1 Provides Long Term Protection
With such a large-scale commitment to the modernization of the fleet the ability to protect the initial investment as well as the safety of the operators who use the vehicles daily was embedded in the overall decision. With the help of the lead dealer that assisted in upgrading their entire fleet it was recommended and decided upon that each unit introduced, and existing lift trucks would be retrofitted with the SkidWeigh SC1 on-board forklift scale with overload notification. The decision to make the SC1 a standard upgrade fell to three main criteria, Functionality, Ease of Use and Investment or Costs.
Functionality
- Real-Time Hydraulic Weighing: The system integrates directly into the forklift’s main hydraulic cylinder. Operators get a precise weight reading in just 3 seconds using "Lift-N-Weigh" technology by raising the load 2 to 4 inches off the ground.
- Audio and Visual Overload Alerts: The SC1 is equipped with a high visibility LED digital display and with integrated strobe lights and audio alarms. If a load exceeds safe vehicle parameters or predetermined racking weight restrictions, the system immediately flags the dangerous overload event to protect the operator and surrounding infrastructure.
- Universal Application: The technology is robust and adaptable, installing in roughly 2 hours across any forklift make, model, or operational voltage.
- No Vehicle Derating: Crucially for industrial environments, it operates via pressure transducers. It does not modify the physical forklift carriage or structure, meaning the vehicle
- Summary: Universal on all makes and models, robust accuracy with zero change to the lift truck makes the SC1 roll out easy to do over numerous locations.
Ease of Use
- Simple Install: Each kit comes complete with brackets and instructions to assist the various technicians whether the install is performed in house or a servicing dealer. The ability to install in approximately 2 hours makes the retrofit extremely practical.
- Operator Friendly: With no buttons to push, its "Lift-N-Weigh" functionality and its automatic overload notification operators can concentrate on the core responsibilities of their job.
- Calibration Sustainability: Regardless of how accessible the vehicle or remote the location the SkidWeigh SC1 is extremely easy to calibrate and keep calibrated. If forks or front end of the lift truck are changed a 5-minute calibration can be performed by anyone with knowledge on how to operate a forklift.
